Brownies continue to Support

The 2nd Vale of Mowbray Brownies recently held a concert for family & friends to raise money for this Rotary school project.

The Brownies originally gave money towards the cost of building the school which is now underway and will open later this year.

The concert by the Brownies raised £70 which was presented in a cheque by Brownie Kate Burrell to Thirsk Rotary Club international Chairman David Sellars.

In thanking the Brownies, and their leader Mrs. Sue Cole, David Sellars told the girls of the progress to date on building the school and said that their £70 would be passed onto the Rotary District Chairman and used to buy books and materials to equip the school in readiness for its opening.

Continued financial support.

The money continues to roll in, as new schools come on board to help raise funds.
The appeal now stands at in excess of £214,000.00p with further pledges confirmed.
District appeal committee will continue to accept funds from Rotary Clubs, Schools, individuals and other organisations as we understand several were unable to hold events prior to the first aniversary of the Tsunami. As you will appreciate the school will not be completed until September so there is plenty of time to raise additional funds.

Auction of Sri Lankan Tea Set

At the Rotary Club of Skipton's 76th Charter dinner on the 15th March a tea service, one of five brought back from Sri Lanka by the district team at Easter was auctioned and sold for £180.00p. This money is to be donated to the School appeal.

Thank You EBBERSTON VILLAGE

Having seen the report by the Rotary Club of Malton & Norton in the local press, the Community of Ebberston Village decided to donate £550 to the Yorkshire School appeal being funds raised at their monthly coffee mornings. They also wish to forge longer term links with the school and will be working with Rotary to see how best this can be structured. Well done and thankyou. The support from that area is much appreciated with amongst others the Rotary Club donating £2102.47 and Norton College £1529.38.
