HAPPY NEW YEAR
It will now be a very happy new year for all the children in Kalawanchikudy, Batticaloa with their new Junior and Secondary School due for completion in July 2006, in good time for the start of the new school year in September.
The building contractor has now been mobilised on site, all soil tests are now complete and the structural drawings have been redesigned to suite the ground conditions, the ground has been cleared and leveled and work is continuing at a pace to install the structural foundtions.
The new school is to be constructed in structural re-inforced concrete and brickwork with two and three storey interconnecting sections and will be constructed to withstand any future Tsunami or high water levels.
A team of Yorkshire Rotarians including members of the appeal committee intend to visit the new school at its official opening and to present a leather bound book that will include the names of all the donor Schools, Rotary Clubs, Businesses and individuals.
