School Rebuild project launched
Rotarians from across Yorkshire, along with special guests and young people, gathered at Challenge College, Bradford, for the launch of the District 1040 KSV School Rebuild project launch. The Deputy Lord Mayor and Deputy Lady Mayoress of Bradford were welcomed by RIBI Vice-Chair Rtn Allan Jagger, who introduced PDG Rtn K R "Ravi" Ravindran from Sri Lanka.
Ravi, who is leading the Schools Reawaken project in Sri Lanka gave a presentation on the effects of the tsunami in Sri Lanka and the Rotary project to rebuild 25 schools - of which the District 1040 KSV School is one. He thanked Rotarians and the people of Yorkshire for their tremendous support so far, and for the undertaking that District 1040 has made to rebuild the KSV School.
Appeal Committee Chair Rtn Ian Carling then outlined some of the plans to raise funds across the District in the coming period, beginning with a dress-down day in schools and workplaces throughout Yorkshire on Friday 24 June.
More details and photos of the launch will be published shortly.
